Kohimarama School Fundraiser Wins 3rd Place

I had the privilege of being invited to assist Kohimarama School in overseeing the design and painting of a mural for the Resene Mural Masterpieces Competition.

First step was to interview the students for ideas of what the school meant to them. The feedback was then used to compile relevant themes for the mural design across four different age groups. This was such an exciting, collaborative and creative process. The kids were so cute and had some amazing ideas and thoughts.

Using the feedback and ideas from the kids, I designed four murals and compiled the material requirements for the project. Together with the PTA of Kohimarama School, the outlines were painted onto the boards in preparation for the parents and children to colour in.

We divided the boards into multiple small squares which were sold to raise funds. The idea being that the parents and students would paint their purchased square on the day of the event.

I helped coordinate and assisted the event to ensure that everything went according to plan. After the event myself, along with the PTA, tidied up the outlines and filled in some spaces with a second coat of paint before entering the Resene Mural Masterpieces Competition.

The School won third place in the competition which can be viewed at the following link: https://www.resene.co.nz/competition/murals/25-2017.htm
